BACK TO THE BIG APPLE: CAMPARI AMERICA SHOWCASES AWARD-WINNING SPIRITS PORTFOLIO AT INAUGURAL BAR CONVENT BROOKLYN, JUNE 12-13

Campari America Celebrates Bar Industry & New York City’s Return to Form at Highly-Anticipated Event

NEW YORK CITY (May 30, 2018) – New York City – the birthplace of many celebrated cocktails and bar legends – finally has a new game in town with the inaugural Bar Convent Brooklyn trade show. With anticipation mounting, Campari America will shake, stir and pour spirits from its diverse, award-winning portfolio as a presenting sponsor on June 12-13, 2018, at the Brooklyn Expo Center. The city’s return to form as the epicenter of cocktail culture comes at a time when Campari America settles into its new company headquarters in the heart of Manhattan.

The expo is an extension of Bar Convent Berlin, which is celebrating its eleventh year as the leading international trade fair for the bar and beverages industry, serving as a bellwether for upcoming cocktail and spirits trends. Campari America will highlight its impressive portfolio during a full slate of events and exhibitions, including a classic Italian cocktail bar, a tribute to the quintessential dive bar, Aperol® Spritz breaks, an Appleton® Estate Jamaican Rum documentary viewing party, and two sponsored speaker sessions. Though this is the first Bar Convent event in the United States, Campari America has supported Bar Convent abroad for nearly a decade. See the full Campari America schedule below.

“When Bar Convent Brooklyn was announced, it was a natural decision for Campari America to continue our presence at this important event as it made its way across the Atlantic,” said Steve Chasen, Vice President of Trade Marketing for Campari America. “Bar Convent Brooklyn will offer priceless face-to-face time with the bar industry where we can illustrate Campari America’s versatile portfolio to new professionals and long-time brand advocates alike, as well help media unearth future trends. Ever since the Manhattan Cocktail Classic ceased operations in 2015, New York has craved a signature bar industry event. We’re confident Bar Convent Brooklyn will be a premier experience where we can thank Campari America supporters for the ongoing patronage that ultimately helps drive our success.”

Campari America Portfolio Exhibit
Tuesday, June 12 – Wednesday, June 13; 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. daily; Brooklyn Expo Center, Booth #211

Bar Convent Brooklyn attendees will sample and experience Campari America’s diverse portfolio within two very different bar environments.

Attendees will be transported to Milan via an upscale, elegant cocktail bar styled after the famous Camparino Bar that sits adjacent to the Duomo Cathedral. Details like intricate tile mosaic and weathered checker flooring will immediately conjure up the classic Italian bar, whose history is inextricably linked with the iconic Campari. Guest bartending both days from 3:00-5:00pm will be bar legend Tommaso Cecca, who has worked with a stellar team to create a truly immersive Campari cocktail journey– from the Campari Seltz and the Negroni to the Sbagliato.  Linden Pride and Naren Young have lent their mixology magic to this Brooklyn retelling of a truly authentic “aperitivo hour.”

Nobody does a dive bar better than New York City, which will be the focus of Campari America’s second installation. From CBGB’s and Max Fish to Mars Bar and Milano’s, the “dive” has always been a point of pride for Borough denizens swapping stories, successes and sorrows at their local watering hole. For attendees seeking a more casual, laid-back bar setting, Campari America has modeled part of its booth to emulate a typical New York neighborhood dive bar. Walls covered with memorabilia, graffiti, and weathered wood flooring will create the perfect atmosphere for sipping a Cadillac Margarita featuring Grand Marnier®, a Long Island Iced Tea or a Wild Turkey® Old Fashioned. Attendees may also taste the new Wild Turkey release – Wild Turkey Longbranch, a collaboration between Master Distiller Eddie Russell and the brand’s Creative Director Matthew McConaughey.

Aperol Spritz Break
Tuesday, June 12 – Wednesday, June 13; 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. daily; Brooklyn Expo Center Parking Lot

Coming off a year when the Aperol Spritz was dubbed THE cocktail of 2017, attendees can pause from the bustle of the expo with an Aperol Spritz Break while enjoying Italy’s #1 cocktail. The combination of Aperol and Prosecco has quickly become the perfect daytime cocktail in the US, and is one of the most Instagrammable cocktails today. Before heading back to the trade show floor, attendees can sample an Aperol Spritz, snap a photo and then get back to the business of booze.

Appleton Estate – The Jamaican Difference – Part 1 Viewing Party
Monday, June 11; 7:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.; Kinfolk 90 + Kinfolk 94

As a celebration of Appleton Estate Jamaican Rum’s “Jamaican Difference” campaign, the brand will premiere the first segment in a three-part docuseries via an immersive viewing party. In partnership with Liquor.com, the docuseries aims to dive deep into the aspects of the rum-making process to identify the key elements that set Jamaican rum apart from the pack. Hosted by National Brand Ambassador Anne-Louis Marquis with special guest appearances by Master Blender Joy Spence, the viewing party will offer a 10-minute screening of Part 1 followed by Jamaican cuisine, cocktails and Dancehall tunes.

Sponsored Session: Utility of Jamaican Rum
Wednesday, June 13; 3:45 p.m. – 4:30 p.m., Brooklyn Expo Center Demonstration Stage 1

Appleton Estate Master Blender Joy Spence – the first female Master Blender in the world –  will guide attendees through the intricate and artful process of creating Appleton Estate Rums, and how the unique geography of Jamaica creates some of the finest rums in the world. She will be joined by Campari America’s National Brand Ambassador Anne-Louise Marquis.

Sponsored Panel: The Role of Brand Companies in the Hospitality Industry
Tuesday, June 12; 6:15 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Brooklyn Expo Center Main Stage

Campari America’s Vice President of Trade Marketing, Steve Chasen, will join other industry heavyweights to discuss the role that spirits brands play within the hospitality industry as a whole and how these relationships continue to evolve.
